Kindergarten or Kindergarden: Sounds like? And, Where can you find these programs in Bedroom Communities of NYC

Kindergarten (German, literally means "children's garden") is a form of education for young children that serves as a transition from home to the commencement of more formal schooling. Another definition, which overlaps with early childhood education and preschool, is education for pre- and emergent-literate children before the age of 6 or 7. Children are taught to develop basic skills and knowledge through creative play and social interaction, as well as sometimes formal lessons.

What local New Jersey school districts offer full day and half day kindergarten? This is a question that comes up time and time again as we get to know our relocation buyers with young children. We thought it would be helpful to post a compiled list of the full day, half day and before and after care programs offered by our public school systems. And, you need to be aware that there are many alternative programs for children at local YMCA's, etc.   !!!CAUTION:  There is the unfortunate reality that some of these full day programs may be at risk due to budget cuts so we would recommend checking with the specific school districts!!!
