MPack is a band, a brand, and a musical production enterprise, consisting of multiple elements in an ever evolving flow. MPack is the musical brainchild of bassist, guitarist, keyboardist, drummer and vocalist Clarence 'Groove Master' Conover. He's the founder, leader, and vocalist of the Clarence Conover Project, the MPack Band and the founder and CEO of M-Pack Music productions whose motto is "Life Changing Sounds'. Jan 27: Blues in the Loft: King Solomon Hicks
At the age of 13 Solomon started playing with the Cotton Club 17-piece band as Lead Guitarist and still continues to perform there. Along with being called “Lil’ B.B.” he played the KISS Kruise V, 2017 Joe Bonamassa Blues Cruise, Spain [Festival Blues De Be Bar-Blues CAZORLA-San Javier], Jazz Marciac in France, and the Tokyo Cotton Club. Feb 3: La Cinematheque: Chinese Film Series: A Simple Life (directed by Anna Hui, 2011)
A film producer helps care for his family’s lifelong servant after she suffers a stroke and must move into a nursing home. This new film series will explore four important films from China. Ali Soufan is a former FBI Supervisory Special Agent who investigated highly sensitive and complex international terrorism cases, including the East Africa Embassy Bombings, the attack on the USS Cole, and the events surrounding 9/11. He is a leading national security and counterterrorism expert, and continues to play a significant advisory role on today's most sensitive issues. Feb 17: Jazz in the Loft: Greg Bufford presents a Tribute to Billie Holiday
Greg Bufford has worked as a professional drummer on the international level with such names as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Randy Weston, Freda Payne, Dakota Staton, Leslie Uggams, Steve Nelson, Sonny Stitt, Little Jimmy Scott, Sun Ra, Barney Kessel, Mor Thiam Drums of Fire (father of Akon), Vaughan Mason and Crew (The Prince/Rick James Tour). Musical productions he has been a part of include Ain’t Misbehavin, Stormy Weather, The Ella Fitzgerald Story, Eubie, Rollin on the T.O.B.A., Hallelujah Baby, Portraits of Ray and All That Jazz, and The Wiz. As a composer/producer, Greg Bufford has written music for film and for television including Roll Bounce, Sesame Street, The Bernie Mack Show, Martin Lawrence, and South Central. Black Lace Blues-originally formed in 2006 by drummer Bruce Tyler, and reformed in 2009, Black Lace Blues is a cross-genre, cross-generation Blues Rock and Reggae band, incorporating original material with contributions from everyone, as well as select quality covers that span a range of musical styles.
The Outcrops- The Outcrops are a four-piece rock ‘n roll band from Northern New Jersey that writes and collaborates on original music, pays homage to prominent bands and artists of American roots music, and delves into improvisational jams. In 1924, young Cheng Dieyi begins training at the Beijing Opera House at the same time as Duan Xiaolou. Cheng specializes in playing female parts, often against Duan’s commanding male leads. While pretending to be in love with Duan onstage, Cheng begins to develop actual romantic feelings for his co-star, which are not reciprocated. Over the next 50 years, the two men maintain a complicated friendship as China undergoes turbulent changes. This new film series will explore four important films from China.
