Community Garden Registration Ends Feb. 28
Garden organizers are looking to add additional sites.
With that whiff of spring late last week, you've probably got a hankering for some gardening. Well, we're here to help!
The Maplewood Community Garden is still registering prospective plot leasers (lessors?) on its website through the end of February.
The garden was a blooming success last year — with a well-maintained and productive location behind town hall. That location will return (and the town is continuing to work on drainage issues), but new locations are possibly being added this year, including a space behind the Maplewood Volunteer First Aid Squad.
At the squad, said Community Garden organizer Irene Dunsavage, "We will be putting in fruits and fruit trees, in addition to individual plots." Dunsavage anticipates 32 plots at the site.
In addition, the Community Garden has made proposals to four schools for use of school property.
