Moving to Maplewood: The Jitney, Parking, Permits for 2014 and more!
Now that my son is living with me and commuting to NYC, I am immediately aware of any changes and renewals for both Parking and Jitney permits for 2014. Both permits will be available for purchase starting at 9 a.m. today.
The permits are for Maplewood residents only.
The 2014 Parking Permit will cost $210, while the 2014 Jitney Pass fee will be $92. A Combo permit for parking and Jitney will cost $232.
A Jitney pass went up slightly from $85 dollars in 2013 to $92 in 2014 while a combination was raised from $225 in 2013 to $232 for 2014. If you commuted 100 days, 200 trips, then your cost increased by 3.5 cents per trip.
According to Vic DeLuca, mayor, there was no increase for the parking pass or the dollar per ride cash fare.
He futher indicated: “We are planning to expand the Jitney route from 3 routes to 4 routes and we expect new ridership from some of the new housing being built.”
In 2012 the Jitney provided 80,000 one way rides which equals 333 one way rides per day.
