Summer Camps in Maplewood


Camp Maple is a 6-week program offered to children with special needs who reside in Maplewood and South Orange. The program provides opportunities for gross and fine motor development as well as cognitive and social growth.

Camp Maple will run for 6 weeks from June 29th-August 7th. Children must be in grades Kindergarten-5th grade (must be 5 years old by 10/1/15). Camp's location is at the Maplewood Community Center, 120 Burnett Ave. Camp will run from 8:30am-1:00pm.

Camp Price: $100 PER WEEK/SESSION

The camp will run for 6 one-week sessions:

Session I: June 29-July 3
Session II: July 6-July 10
Session III: July 13-July 17
Session IV: July 20-July 24
Session V: July 27-July 31
Session VI: August 3-August 7

2015 Kid's Camp
Kid's Camp will run for six-single week sessions from June 29th-August 7th. Children must be in grades Kindergarten-5th grade (must be 5 years old by 10/1/15). Camp's location will be at the Maplewood Community Center - 120 Burnett Avenue.

Includes: structured games, free time at the playground, arts and crafts activities, pool trips, fields trips.

Full Day Camp: 8:30am-3:30pm
Half Day Camp: 8:30am-1:00pm

The camp will run for 6 one-week sessions:

Session I: June 29-July 3
Session II: July 6-July 10
Session III: July 13-July 17
Session IV: July 20-July 24
Session V: July 27-July 31
Session VI: August 3-August 7

Cost: Before May 8th: Full Day- $220 per session
Half Day- $150 per session

After May 8th: Full Day - $250 per session
Half Day - $175 per session

Please note, there will be an additional fee for all late pick-ups at the end of each day. The fees are as follows:

Kids Camp late pick-up:
1 to 15 min late $10 per child
16 to 29 min late $25 per child
30 to 44 min late $45 per child
45 to 59 min late $70 per child
60 minutes or more $100 per child

Campers must bring lunch each day unless otherwise notified. Campers swim four days a week at the Maplewood Community Pool. All campers are swim tested and assigned pools accordingly. Parents now have the option of having their children enrolled in swim lessons during camp hours.

Each week the camp leaves the community center for a field trip. Your child must be wearing their camping shirt, and we recommend that you send extra spending money with your child for games and food.

Our staff is comprised of local high school and college students. They are trained by the American Camping Association, and hold certifications in CPR and First Aid. All of our staff is available to help answer your questions.

Maplewood Ultimate Summer Camp 2015:
Ultimate Camp is back this summer! Come work on your Ultimate Frisbee skills in the Town where it was invented! Camps will be held at Memorial Park and will be Monday-Friday.

Session 1- for children entering grades 5-8
8/10 - 8/14...9am-12pm (half day camp)
$85 per camper

Session II- for children entering grades 6-9
8/17 - 8/21...full day camp (9am-3pm)
$105 per camper

Session III- for children entering grades 7-10
8/24 - 8/28...9am-12pm (half day camp)
$85 per camper

BUDDING LEARNERS PRINCE AND PRINCESS CAMP

Week of August 3-7, 9am-12pm- Burgdorff Center for Performing Arts

For children entering grades K-3 in September

Calling all prince and princesses for a fun filled Royal adventure. Each day will be themed around a different Disney Princess and her Prince, including Anna and Elsa (and Olaf), Cinderella, Belle, Rapunzel, Snow White, Sofia and more! We will make crafts, play games, read stories, and have Royal fun throughout this magical week. A special Princess will join us to play and read us a story! Prince and Princess dress up encouraged.

BUDDING LEARNERS READING AND WRITING CAMP

Week of August 10-14, 9 am -12 pm- Burgdorff Center for Performing Arts

For children entering grades K-4 in September

Help your child prevent “Summer Learning Loss” and prepare for a successful transition back to school, all while having fun. Through exciting songs, crafts, games, and fun activities students will practice sight words, fluency, blends, word families, vowel combinations, decoding skills, and reading/writing strategies. All activities will be done in grade and achievement level groups. Phonics Fun, Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Methods also used. This year’s theme is “Carnival Fun.”

Certified and experienced elementary education teachers run this camp. All activities are aligned with S.T.E.M. and Common Core principles.

BUDDING LEARNERS MATH CAMP

Week of August 17-21, 9am - 12 pm- Burgdorff Center for Performing Arts

For children entering grades K-3 in September

Mastery of math facts and math fundamentals are imperative to becoming successful in math. Our camp focuses on building math skills through exciting games, centers, songs, crafts, and teaching strategies to gain confidence and build on essential skills to smoothly transition into the next school year. Grade level math facts, word problems, time, money, and fractions, are some of the areas that will be covered. All activities will be done in grade and achievement level groups. This year’s theme is sports.

Certified and experienced elementary education teachers run this camp. All activities are aligned with S.T.E.M. and Common Core principles.

Drills, Skills, and Thrills Basketball Camp:
Drills, Skills and Thrills is back for another summer! This camp will teach fundamental basketball skills while promoting full participation, sportsmanship, and most importantly FUN! This camp is for boys and girls who are entering grades 4-8 in September. Campers will be grouped by age and ability level. Camps take place at Memorial Park Basketball Courts. Cost is $90 per camper. If you register for both sessions, price will be $160. Each Camper also receives a free basketball!
