Words Bookstore Wins Visit from 'Kite Runner' Author

Maplewood store triumphs in window display contest.

Khaled Hosseini, author of the acclaimed novels The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, is coming to Maplewood.

Words Bookstore is the winner of a nationwide window display competition to win a visit by Hosseini, according to a post on the author's Facebook page. Hosseini will visit the bookstore this fall for a special event to promote his new book, And the Mountains Echoed.

"We are thrilled that Khaled Hosseini will be appearing in Maplewood, proud of our window designer Meghan Keane for creating such a fabulous display, and grateful to all of our friends in the community who banded together to help us win this contest," said owner Jonah Zimiles.
