UnRun4: On the Move and Raising $ for your PTA of Choice

The UnRun 4 is one week away! This

We are up to 140 runners this year and $5,075 raised for Marshall, Jefferson, Clinton, Tuscan, South Mountain, Montrose Early Childhood Center and Seth Boyden PTA's. This year is especially gratifying in that we have raised $1,000 for Seth Boyden PTA -- the highest total for SB in the four years of the UnRun.

For each of the last four years Mark Slade of Keller Williams has been our sponsor, starting us at the beginning of the UnRun, purchasing the t-shirts that each UnRunner receives and allowing us to donate the entire proceeds raised from the UnRun to our PTA's. Because of Mark we have no overhead. When you see him on Saturday please say hello. In addition to being a caring and generous part of our community he is a really nice guy.

Our route is shown below. If you are running with a young or first time runner I would suggest doing one run (or even a drive through) before next Saturday. It is a gentle course but it helps to have a sense of where you are while you are running. The turn from Scotland to Irving is the only significant hill. The South Orange police will have barricaded off the Montrose neighborhood prior to the UnRun. Best routes for parking are to arrive at the Marshall Playground via University, Warren or Fielding Court. Please try to arrive by 9am. The UnRun will begin promptly at 9:20am.

Sabine Hack will be our Pace Rider this year and will bike ahead of the UnRunners. If you are in the front of the pack please follow her. For everyone else please DO NOT TURN unless you see a volunteer. There will be a volunteer at every turn of the course pointing you in the right direction. But we do not have enough volunteers to put people on the non-turns. Please take a moment to look at the map below. There will be a volunteer at the corner of Grove and Raymond, for example, but there won't be a volunteer on Raymond and Charleton. The next volunteer will be on Raymond and Scotland. Please don't turn unless you see a volunteer. We never cross any business streets but we do run along the sidewalk of South Orange, Scotland and Centre Street. Please stay on the sidewalks during these brief portions of the run. The sidewalk between Raymond and Irving is a little choppy.

We're looking forward to seeing you next Saturday, the 18th at 9AM. Thanks again for participating and being generous towards our elementary PTA's.

Out new Moving Truck, a complimentary service for our clients and their local moves.

The UnRun is a 5K run to benefit Maplewood and South Orange elementary schools.

The UnRun starts and finishes at the Marshall Elementary playground. The entirety of the course is within the Montrose neighborhood of South Orange. Its route is closed off from traffic and includes few hills. All turns are manned by volunteers to ensure that no one goes off-track. The event is designed to be family friendly and accessible to young runners. Non-running family and friends can play in the Marshall playground and still clap UnRunners home at the finish line.

There is a $25 entry fee for the UnRun which is donated to the Maplewood-South Orange elementary school of your choosing (when you sign up). Runners receive a t-shirt (S-M-L-XL) whose cost has been entirely donated by our generous sponsor Mark Slade of Keller Williams Realty
