Surfing through my Facebook Account this afternoon, I found a posting for a new Online Mom's Group--Momagama. This website, created by local area resident Nidhi Tomar, was inspired by her desire to spend more time with her two young children after a career in finance. Let's face it, you have two choices when you become a mom, you can continue working and, if it takes you away from home, then you will need to find childcare or hire a nanny/au pair; or, you can try to find something you can enjoy doing at home, which is what Nidhi chose.
I'm glad she has done this as "Can you please help me find mom's groups or SAHM's--Stay at Home Mom's Groups--is a common request I get from my buyer clients and new local home owners.
Her goal is to have a forum where mom's will have resources and be able to have exchanges that will make being a MOM easier to manage. Momagama is comprised of three sections: One for Kids info, with her plan to keep this information relevant for kids 0-12 years of age; the second section will focus on Lifestyle and the third section will focus on Relationships.
Momagama will also have directories for babysitters/child care providers, local shopping, housekeeping help and more. The beauty of this site is that anyone can get snippets of the content, but you will have to register if you want the ability to drill down and dig deeper. Nidhi, which launched today, says she has about 8 contributors already ready to publish on Momagama. Nidhi wants this site to be highly collaborative and engaging, as well as "Fun & Fabulous."
I couldn't help but ask about her choice of brand name, as I joked about it being Moma and Gama as a nickname for grandma; Nidhi laughed. Actually, she replied, "it's the combination of 2 words--Mom and Agama--the latter being a Buddhist word that means "sacred," and is spiritual.
