What to Do with the Kids Over Presidents Day Weekend
Not flying to sunnier, warmer climes? Some ways to keep the little ones entertained....
This week is chock-full of much-needed things to do with the kiddies while they are on winter break. From sewing projects and library stories to indulging your child's inner Picasso, you're bound to find something to keep everyone busy (and keep your sanity!)
Seton Stories
Where/When: South Orange Public Library; Friday February 18th, 10am
Why Go: Get to know your local college students (and maybe even find a good babysitter!) - Seton Hall students present a story and a craft
Price: Free!
The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Other Eric Carle Favourites
Where/When: Papermill Playhouse; Saturday, February 19th, 10am
Why Go: The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a universal favorite and kids will delight in the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia's dazzling production.
Price: $15 for Orchestra and $12 for Mezzanine
Mediation for Teens (ages 11-16)
Where/When: Dharmachakra Buddhist Center, Millburn; Sunday, February 20th, 5:00–6:00 pm
Why Go: Teenagers face many inner and social struggles both in and out of school. Meditation offers a practical way to address one's thoughts and to gain some control over this turmoil. Come find out how and why meditation leads to happiness, inner peace, overcomes loneliness, and improves relationships!
Price: Suggested donation: $5/class
February Vacation-Day Workshops at The Messy ArtistWhere/When: The Messy Artist; February 21st–25th, check website for times
Why Go: Join the Messy Artist for creative fun and learning during Winter Break! Each day will have 2 classes, one for 3-5 year olds and one for 6-8 year olds. Each group will be in a different classroom. This is a Drop-Off Workshop.
Price: $40 for one day; $30 for each additional day or siblings
It's SEW Crafty's Sewing Workshop
Where/When: It's SEW Crafty; Monday, February 21st, 11am-2:30pm
Why Go: Come make your own doll with clothes and accessories, all materials provided. Ages 8-10. (Other classes are also being held during the week, check http://www.parteaz.com/act.php for details.)
Price: $40 including pizza lunch

Where/When: Maplewood Library Hilton Branch; Tuesday, February 22nd, 3:30pm
Why Go: Celebrate the Arts in Black History by hearing some Haitian stories
