You don't send a boy to do a man's job, but sometimes the job calls for a fifth-grade girl. Eleven-year-old Ava Krasner had the chance to sit down and chat with her favorite TV star, Miranda Cosgrove, before her recent concert at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair. She also got to spend the night with Dad, photographer Bob Krasner, whose Behind the Lens feature captures the girls in action. Following is Ava's story and interview!
When I walked into Miranda Cosgrove's dressing room my heart was beating so fast! I was VERY nervous but I was also VERY excited. I wasn't sure what she was going to be like but I had heard that she was nice from a friend. Also, it was my first ever interview!
When I started asking her questions I wasn't as nervous and she turned out to be EXTREMELY nice! It was a very fun thing to do. Not only was  she was really friendly during the interview, but she asked if we could do a funny picture at the end! It turns out she's just like us! It was a wonderful experience and I hope I can do it again.
Q. What do you enjoy most about being famous?

A. Getting my hair and make-up done! I like playing characters that are not like me. Also I really enjoy meeting people, especially my fans.

Q. What do you enjoy least about being famous?

A. Getting up early! Also, I don't like when I am out with friends and I'm not looking good and I run into my fans.

Q. Where were you born?

A. I was born in LA, but I wish I was born in New York. I love New York.

Q. Do you have any siblings?

A. No, I'm an only child. I do have a toy poodle named Pearl. I've had her since I was five years old.

Q. Who is your favorite cast member to work with?

A. Jenette McCurdy, Nathan Kress, and especially Jerry Trainor, who plays my brother in the show [iCarly]. He's like a real life big brother to me. He gave me my first driving lesson.

Q. Do you have a celebrity crush?

A. Yes, my new crush is Andrew Garfield. Shia LaBeouf, too.

Q. Where did you grow up?

A. I grew up 30 minutes outside LA. I've lived in the same house since I was born and my agent is my next door neighbor.

Q. Who is your favorite male singer?

A. I would have to say Tom Petty. And Paul McCartney too!

Q. Who is your favorite female singer?

A. Definitely Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry, and Gwen Stefani. I do a "No Doubt" song in my show.

Q. What is your favorite TV show?

A. I have seen every episode of SpongeBob! I also love "Freaks and Geeks."

Q. When did you start your professional career ?

A. When I was three years old I was discovered by an agent in a restaurant called Taste of LA.

Q. What was your first job?

A. My first job was a TV commercial for Mello Yello. I was supposed to be building a sand castle but I knocked it down! Also, I played Queen Amidalia in a Kmart ad.

Q. Do you like to play video games?

A. Yes! We have a Wii on the tour bus. The Michael Jackson game is our new favorite.

Q. What is your favorite game station?

A. Probably Wii and Xbox. Jerry loves World of Warcraft. He was playing it so much that his girlfriend got mad and deleted the memory from the game. So he broke up with her!

Q. Do you like the show "Glee"?

A. I like it a lot! I am friends with Lea Michele. She's really nice!

Q. What is your favorite place to play when you are on tour?

A. I loved playing the Beacon Theater in New York. I was really nervous because of the history of the place — so many great people have played there. Also, I have a lot of friends in New York.

Thank you very much! It was really nice to meet you.

Thank you!
