The JOY of Photography in Maplewood


FUNTOGRAPHY

We'll kick it off going old-school shooting 120 film with Holgas and shooting the town! While we wait for the film to come back (no instant gratification here!), we'll play with shutter speed, aperture and various modes to see what they do. We'll even do a bit of stop motion animation. We'll work on composition, light and letting the child's imagination come out and play. What to bring: a fully charged dSLR or a higher end point and shoot camera. While cell phone cameras are really cool - they don't allow for us to do all the planned activities - unfortunately they can't be the only camera your child brings. What else to bring: water bottle and weather appropriate clothing. Weather permitting, we will walk to the park and in town for a few of the classes.

When: Mondays: 9/28 - 11/2 (6 weeks from 4pm - 5:15pm)

Where: The Woodland Parlor (60 Woodland Road - Maplewood)

Registration may be done at the Maplewood Recreation Office, 574 Valley Street in Maplewood or by calling 973-763-4202. Office hours are Monday-Friday 9:00AM - 4:30 PM. Registration can also be done online at http://register.communitypass.net/maplewood. The program is listed under season Fall/Winter 2015 -16.

Rent Party Picnic September 12th, Don't Miss It!


What's a Rent Party?

Rent Party, founded in October 2009,is a live music series based in Maplewood / South Orange, New Jersey. Proceeds from these shows help fight hunger in our community.


Rent Party BackPack Pals: RPBPP has been providing weekend packs for food-insecure children in our community for over three years now. We’ve delivered over 5,000 of these “packs” with contain kid-friendly meals, drinks and snacks to help kids whose families are struggling. Often these children are dependent on the school lunch program provided during the week and can arrive at school on Monday morning feeling lethargic and unready to learn. BackPack Pals is an attempt to help them with this struggle. Our BackPack Pals volunteers deliver food each Friday to participating schools in our community.
